Findlay, Ohio - Saint Xavier University junior wide receiver/punter Bill McKeon (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) was named the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Mideast League Special Teams Player of the Week Monday for his performance last Friday in No. 8 ranked SXU's 24-9 road loss to NCAA Division III national champion University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (Wis.). It was the first installment of the weekly award with a majority of the teams in the MSFA opening the 2008 season this past weekend.
In his first assignment as the team's starting punter, McKeon was solid posting seven punts for an average of 38.3 yards per punt as well as two going for touchbacks. He had a long punt of 47 yards in the game.
Saint Xavier (0-1 overall) prepares for its home opener Thursday night against former MSFA Midwest League rival University of St. Francis (Ill.). It will mark the program's first-ever Thursday night game at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. and a fireworks show taking place at halftime.
