CHICAGO - Dan Spencer, an incoming freshman hurdler from Frankfort, Ill., recently signed a letter of intent to continue his athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar men's track program. Spencer attended Lincoln-Way East High School in Frankfort, where he ran boy's track for the Griffins.
Spencer was an outstanding sprinter and hurdler for Lincoln-Way East High School garnering all-state honors last season in the 4x400 relay in addition to qualifying for the state finals in both 110 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles. He plans to pursue a biology degree at Saint Xavier University starting this fall.
"Dan has really blossomed as an athlete this last season," said Saint Xavier University men's cross country/track coach Ed McAllister. "I believe that his best race is the 110 meter hurdles, but the levels of his talent allow him the ability to run many events with equal success. I believe that he has the capabilities to run at the NAIA national level immediately."
