Michigan City, Ind. - Led by a team-high eight kills from junior outside hitter Stephanie Galas (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East), the Saint Xavier University volleyball team cruised to a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) match win over Purdue University-North Central (Ind.) in three straight games (25-19, 25-17, 25-16) Tuesday night in Michigan City, Ind. The Cougars improve to 2-5 overall this season with the victory and now have a perfect 2-0 mark in conference play.

SXU also got solid performances out of senior libero Jenna Guide (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) with 15 digs and freshman middle blocker Kim Scudder (Elmhurst, Ill./York) with six kills and five service aces. Senior right side Laura Gullickson (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bishop McNamara) also had a solid all-around effort for the Cougars finishing with seven kills and eight digs.

Saint Xavier (2-5 overall/2-0 CCAC) will co-host the 18-team SXU-IIT Volleyball Tournament this weekend. The Cougars open the event with a 4 p.m. match Friday against Cornerstone University (Mich.) at the Shannon Center in Chicago.
