CHICAGO - Alyssa Driscoll, a distance runner from Marion, Iowa, has recently signed a letter of intent to continue both her athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar women's cross country and track programs. Driscoll hails from Xavier High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and ran for both the Saints' girl's track and cross country teams.
Driscoll is the daughter of Brian and Sue Driscoll. She finished in the top 10 three times at the state meet in the 3000-meter run during her high school track career. Driscoll also helped her prep cross country team finish as state runners-up in 2005 as well as capturing the state championship as a junior in 2006. She plans to pursue a major in nursing next year at Saint Xavier University.
"Alyssa embodies the type of student-athlete that we look for at Saint Xavier University," said SXU women's cross country and track coach Lisa Ebel. "She had a very successful high school running career and also possesses a brilliant mind in the classroom. I think she will make an immediate impact to both our teams and I can't wait to start working with her this fall."
