Kansas City, Mo. - Saint Xavier University senior catcher Aly Kelley (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) was recently named to the 2008 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Softball All-America Honorable Mention Team when the national office released the honor. The selection of the All-America teams takes place in conjunction with the NAIA Softball National Championship in Decatur, Ala., which wrapped up in late May at the Wilson Morgan Softball Complex.

"Aly is very deserving of this honor and it is an exclamation point on a wonderful career at Saint Xavier University," said SXU softball coach Myra Minuskin. "She was a dominant force for our team this spring, especially in the postseason, but was also a great leader as well and I wish her well in her future endeavors."

Kelley led Saint Xavier in several offensive categories over 51 games this year, including home runs (11), at-bats (166), total bases (101) and RBI (44). She hit .367 (61-for-166) on the year and also tallied 26 runs scored and seven doubles. Defensively, Kelley was just as stellar committing just three errors behind the plate over 49 starts, while recording 218 assists (second highest total on the team) and 28 assists.

Saint Xavier finished its 2008 season with a 30-21 overall record and finished third in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) regular season standings with a 12-6 mark. The Cougars also finished as runner-up in both the 2008 CCAC Softball Tournament and the 2008 NAIA Region VII Softball Tournament.
