CHICAGO - Brittany DeRiggi, an incoming freshman defender/midfielder from Lemont High School in Lemont, Ill., has recently signed a letter of intent to continue both her athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar women's soccer program. DeRiggi, a Lemont native, was coached by Rick Prangen with the Indians of Lemont High School.
She is the daughter of Louis and Gloria DeRiggi of Lemont and plans to study speech pathology next year at SXU. Her sister, Tiffany, is currently a senior at Saint Xavier University and wrapped up her playing career on the Cougar women's soccer program last fall.
"We're excited about adding Brittany to the program for a few reasons," said SXU head women's soccer coach Jeremy Ekeler. "First, she knows the Cougar tradition since her sister played here. Secondly, we add another Lemont and Windy City Pride (club team) player. But most importantly, Brittany gives us options all over the field, because she is such a strong athlete, who played for great high school and club programs."
