CHICAGO - Joanna Janulis, a senior forward/midfielder at Benet Academy in Lisle, Ill., has recently signed a letter of intent to continue both her athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar women's soccer program. Janulis, a native of Bolingbrook, Ill., is currently coached by Henry Wind with the Redwings of Benet Academy. SXU women's soccer coach Jeremy Ekeler feels that Janulis will likely see playing time next season at either forward or as a utility player.
Janulis is the daughter of Richard and Joanne Janulis of Bolingbrook and plans to study business management next year at SXU. Her sister, Jillian, played soccer at Saint Xavier University when the program began in 1997 and wrapped up playing career in 2000 before returning as a student assistant coach in 2001.
"Joanna is a real find for our program, because she is a versatile and athletic player who has ties to SXU through her sister," said Ekeler. "She is also an outstanding student and should help our team out in a variety of places on the field. When Joanna came to work out with the team over the winter, our coaches and players all raved about her work ethic and team-first attitude. She should make an immediate impact."
