Joliet, Ill. - Senior catcher Aly Kelley (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) was named the 2008 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Softball Player of the Year as Saint Xavier University had four of its players named to the 2008 All-CCAC Softball Team when it was announced Wednesday by the conference office in Joliet, Ill. In addition to Kelley, freshman first baseman Courtney Murphy (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest) and freshman centerfielder Megan Paradzinski (Munster, Ind./Munster) both earned first team honors on the all-conference squad, while freshman leftfielder Lisa Gryczewski (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) garnered honorable mention recognition.

Kelley is hitting .338 on the year with 46 hits, 20 runs scored, and 33 RBI. She has a team-best six home runs this season as well as the most total bases (70) and highest slugging percentage (.515). Behind the plate, Kelley has been just as tough with 184 putouts and 25 assists with only three errors. Among active starters in the field, Kelley has the highest fielding percentage at .986. Murphy has been exceptional as a freshman first baseman hitting .386 with 49 hits, 27 runs scored, and team-high 39 RBI. She has been just as good defensively with a team-best 320 putouts and only five errors for a .985 fielding percentage. Paradzinski currently leads the Cougars in batting average (.467), hits (63), runs scored (34), and stolen bases (12). Gryczewski is hitting .323 this season with 41 hits, 33 runs scored, and 25 RBI. She also has a team-best three triples this year.

Saint Xavier (25-17 overall/12-6 CCAC) continues CCAC tournament play on Thursday, May 1, with a semi-finals match-up against No. 1 seed and No. 10 ranked Olivet Nazarene University. The game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start and the winner of that game will advance to Friday's championship with no losses in the double-elimination event. The loser will play at 4 p.m. Thursday.
