Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University senior catcher Aly Kelley (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) was named both the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) and NAIA Region VII Softball Player of the Week Tuesday for her impressive performance in the Cougars' six-game stretch last week, including a perfect 4-0 record at the University of Illinois-Springfield (UIS) Softball Tournament. The only two losses the Cougars suffered on the week were to No. 16 ranked Bethel College (Ind.) last Thursday at SXU Softball Field in Chicago.
Kelley went 10-for-20 (.500) at the plate on the week and hit a double and three home runs. She also scored five runs and had 12 RBI over the six-game stretch. Kelley's slugging percentage on the week was 1.000. She is the first player this season to earn Region VII Softball Player of the Week honors and the second to be named the CCAC Player of the Week. Freshman shortstop Brittany Hannigan (Palos Hills, Ill./Stagg) was the first SXU softball player to earn the conference's weekly honor back on April 1.
Saint Xavier (16-16 overall/8-6 CCAC) heads to Romeoville, Ill., on Tuesday, April 22, to play a doubleheader against NCAA Division II Lewis University (Ill.). The first game of the twinbill is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.Click here to go to the CCAC Players of the Week page
