Wed, Aug. 20, 2008 - [Women's Cross Country]
Kansas City, Mo. - In just her third season as the head coach of the Saint Xavier University women's cross country team, Lisa Ebel has the program "running" in the right direction. That point was reinforced this week when the NAIA national office released its annual preseason poll late Tuesday and the Cougars received a No. 16 national ranking. In addition, SXU also learned earlier this week that it was projected to finish first in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) in its annual preseason poll.
Saint Xavier had a huge 2007 season winning the NAIA Region VII Meet and earning an automatic berth to the NAIA National Championships in Kenosha, Wis., as a team. The Cougars finished No. 20 overall at the national meet, its first team appearance at the national stage since 1998. SXU opens its 2008 season on Friday, August 29, at the Elmhurst Early Bird Invitational in Elmhurst, Ill. The meet, hosted by Elmhurst College, (Ill.) is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start and takes place at Eldridge Park in Elmhurst.
