CHICAGO - Freshman goalkeeper Danielle Wagner (Worth, Ill./Stagg) recorded four saves and posted her fourth shutout of the season as the No. 19 ranked Saint Xavier University women's soccer team picked up a 1-0 conference road win over Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action Wednesday night in Chicago. With the victory, the Cougars improve to 11-3 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
Junior forward Lissa Coby (Lake Villa, Ill./Grant Community) scored the game's lone goal in the 47th minute on a header over the IIT goalkeeper. The play began on a served ball into the box by senior defender Kate Bingman (Lincoln, Neb./Pius X Catholic), which was headed across the front of the goal line by senior forward Angie Holmes (Shorewood, Ill./Providence Catholic). Both Bingham and Holmes recorded assists on the game-winning goal. The Cougars out-shot the Scarlet Hawks, 8-4, in Wednesday's victory.
Saint Xavier (11-3 overall/4-2 CCAC) returns home to face CCAC foe Judson College (Ill.) on Saturday, October 7. Game time is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago.
