Kansas City, Mo. - The Saint Xavier University softball team had senior Aly Kelley (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) as well as juniors Gianna Pavone (Orland Park, Ill./St. Joseph's College) and Holly Kennedy (Henry, Ill./University) recently recognized as 2008 Daktronics-NAIA Softball Scholar Athletes when the national office released the names following the 2008 NAIA Softball National Championship Tournament, which took place last week in Decatur, Ala. Kelley was the starting catcher for the Cougars, while Pavone started at third base and Kennedy saw action in the outfield this past spring.
To be named a Daktronics-NAIA Softball Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 grade-point average (GPA) on a 4.00 scale and be at least a junior in academic standing with one full academic year completed at the nominating institution.
