Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University freshman shortstop Brittany Hannigan (Palos Hills, Ill./Stagg) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Softball Player of the Week Thursday for her stellar performance at the plate in the Cougars' four victories last week. Hannigan had a batting average of .636 (7-for-11) and a stellar slugging percentage of 1.273 over the four-game stretch. SXU swept Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) doubleheaders from both Purdue University-North Central (Ind.) and Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) on the week.
In addition to her impressive batting average and slugging percentage, Hannigan racked up some other big numbers last week. She finished with four doubles, a home run, eight runs scored, and six RBI. Hannigan is also the first Saint Xavier University softball player to earn the conference's weekly honor this season.
Saint Xavier (10-12 overall/6-4 CCAC) heads out on the road on Saturday, April 5, to take on CCAC foe Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.). The first game of the doubleheader is scheduled for a 12 p.m. start in Milwaukee.Click here to go to the CCAC Players of the Week page
