CHICAGO - Junior centerfielder Don Skelly (Oak Lawn, Ill./Marist) proved why he is the leadoff hitter for the Saint Xavier University baseball team Tuesday leading his team offensively to a big 11-1 victory (8 innings) over visiting Trinity Christian College (Ill.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action at Richard R. Ferrell Memorial Field in Chicago. Skelly finished the game with four hits, including a double and triple, and also scored three runs as the Cougars improved to 12-13 overall and 1-2 in the conference standings.

Sophomore shortstop John O'Brien (Lake Zurich, Ill./Lake Zurich) also had a good day at the plate going 3-for-5 with three RBI, while sophomore second baseman Matt Mueller (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) finished 2-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBI. Junior righthander Bryant Myjak (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) got the win on the mound for Saint Xavier throwing the first seven innings and allowing just three hits, one run (unearned), and six walks with one strikeout. Sophomore leftie Jayson Koehn (Beecher, Ill./Beecher) threw the final inning and gave up no hits or runs with a walk and a strikeout. The Cougars out-hit the Trolls, 16-3, in the game and scored seven of their 11 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull away.

Saint Xavier (12-13 overall/1-2 CCAC) takes a break from its CCAC schedule to take on NCAA Division II foe Lewis University (Ill.) for a road doubleheader on Wednesday, April 2. The twinbill is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. start in Romeoville, Ill.
