CHICAGO - Senior forward Jackie Heine (Hampshire, Ill./Hannibal-LaGrange) put an exclamation point on her three-year career at Saint Xavier University by leading her team to a 60-50 victory over Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Indiana University-South Bend (Ind.) on "Senior Day" Saturday at the Shannon Center in Chicago. Heine finished with team-highs of 20 points and eight rebounds and shot an outstanding 7-for-10 (70 percent) from the field to help lead the Cougars to at least a share of the CCAC regular season title with Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) with a league mark of 8-2.

Senior guard Candis Jackson (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young) also scored in double figures with 12 points, while senior forward Tara Breshock (Lansing, Ill./TF-South) chipped in eight points and team-best five steals. In fact, all five seniors on the 2007-08 SXU women's basketball roster contributed to the victory Saturday with senior guard Sarah Wilson (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) recording an assist and senior center Jennifer Stinich (Westchester, Ill./Nazareth Academy) pulling down two rebounds. The Cougar defense played tough and limited the Titans to just 32 percent (18-for-57) shooting from the field and helping force 24 IUSB turnovers. SXU built a eight-point lead at the half, 35-27, and led by as many as 19 points, 57-38, with just under eight minutes to play in regulation.

Saint Xavier (22-7 overall/8-2 CCAC) will now take the No. 1 seed into next week's CCAC Tournament, which begins on Tuesday, March 4. The Cougars will receive a first-round bye for the tournament and will host a game on Thursday, March 6. The opponent and time of the game have yet to be determined.
