Romeoville, Ill. - Saint Xavier University sophomore Lauren Dentzman (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) ran a NAIA qualifying time of 5:15.80 in the indoor mile Friday at the Dick Pond Open hosted by Lewis University (Ill.) in Romeoville, Ill. Dentzman qualified earlier this season for the 2008 NAIA Indoor Track Championships running the 1600-meter leg of the Distance Medley Relay (DMR) at the Chicagoland Championships also hosted by Lewis University.
"Lauren ran her fastest time ever for an open mile and it does not surprise me at all to see her qualify for nationals," said SXU women's indoor track coach Lisa Ebel. "Between Lauren and the rest of the runners in the DMR, Saint Xavier University will be well-represented at this year's NAIA Indoor Track Championships."
The NAIA Indoor Track Championships will take place in Johnson City, Tenn., from March 6-8 with the indoor mile preliminaries scheduled for Friday afternoon (March 7) and the finals set for Saturday afternoon (March 8). The DMR preliminaries will take place on Thursday night (March 6) with the finals scheduled for Saturday afternoon.Click here for complete meet results of the Dick Pond Open
