CHICAGO - Michael Lally, a senior linebacker at St. Rita High School in Chicago, has signed a letter of intent to continue both his athletics and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar football program. The Oak Lawn, Ill., native was named a First Team Chicago Catholic League All-Star following the 2005 season.
Lally was coached by Todd Kuska during his prep career at St. Rita High School. The Mustangs finished the 2005 campaign with a 9-3 record and qualified for the quarterfinals of the Class 7A state playoffs before falling, 32-21, to Mount Carmel. .
"Mike is a big, physical middle linebacker, who can also run sideline to sideline," said Saint Xavier University football coach Mike Feminis. "He flat out punishes people. Mike's also a great student and a tremendous person. We are fortunate to get him."
