Bourbonnais, Ill. - For the third straight game, the No. 21 ranked Saint Xavier University men's basketball team rallied from a double-digit, second-half deficit to claim a victory beating Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.), 66-64, Saturday afternoon in Bourbonnais, Ill. Sophomore guard Julian Scott (Country Club Hills, Ill./Hillcrest), who was named the NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week Wednesday, scored the game-winning lay-up with five seconds remaining to secure the thrilling road win.
Scott finished with 13 points and eight rebounds for SXU, while junior forward Adam Gregoriou (Burbank, Ill./Brother Rice) led all scorers with 19 points in addition to his seven rebounds. Senior forward Dan Bolger (Chicago, Ill./Saint Patrick) and junior guard Scott Campbell (Detroit, Mich./Waubonsee CC) both came off the bench to chip in 10 points apiece toward the winning effort. SXU outscored Olivet, 9-2, over the game's final five minutes to complete the rally attempt after trailing by as many as 11 points early in the second half.
Saint Xavier (20-5 overall/4-1 CCAC) will head to the road to take on CCAC rival and No. 6 ranked Robert Morris College (Ill.) on Wednesday, February 13. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Gentile Center in Chicago.
