Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University senior forward Jackie Heine (Hampshire, Ill./Hannibal-LaGrange) had a week to remember, first surpassing the 1,000-point mark for her career and then earning Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Women's Basketball Division I Player of the Week honors for the second time to start off a month this season. Heine earned the weekly distinction after putting up a pair of solid performances in the Cougars' victories last week over CCAC foes Robert Morris College (Ill.) and rival University of St. Francis (Ill.).
Heine was first selected for her play during the first week of January, ending January 6. There, she averaged 17.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. This time around, for the seven-day period ending February 3, Heine scored at a 16.5 points-per-game clip, while securing an average of 6.5 rebounds per game in Saint Xavier's two conference wins. Heine totaled 11 points and seven rebounds against Robert Morris in a battle of league unbeatens on January 29, where SXU came away with an 83-71 victory. On Saturday (Feb. 2), the Cougars needed all of Heine's 22 points, six rebounds, three assists and two blocks as they rallied for a 79-78 road victory over St. Francis.
The two wins kept No. 11 ranked SXU perfect in the league (4-0) and pushed its overall record to 18-4 on the season. The Cougars take on CCAC foe Indiana University-South Bend (Ind.) tonight in South Bend, Ind. Game time is scheduled for a 7 p.m. eastern time start.Click here to go to the CCAC Players of the Week webpage
