South Bend, Ind. - A three-pointer by sophomore guard Julian Scott (Country Club Hills, Ill./Hillcrest) with seven seconds remaining in regulation gave No. 24 Saint Xavier University a thrilling 89-88 road win over Indiana University-South Bend (Ind.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) men's basketball action Saturday in South Bend, Ind. Scott and junior forward Adam Gregoriou (Burbank, Ill./Brother Rice) combined for 50 of SXU's 89 points as the Cougars shot a blistering 61 percent (36-of-59) from the field in the game.

Scott was unstoppable in the winning effort finishing with 30 points, six rebounds, and seven assists. Gregoriou was tough as well for Saint Xavier posting 20 points, five rebounds, and three assists. IUSB led for most of the first half and took its largest lead of the game (nine points) at halftime, 53-44. The Cougars chipped away at the lead early in the second half and tied things up, 69-69, with 11 minutes left in the game. The two teams went back and forth for the next nine minutes until the Titans took a five-point lead, 86-81, with just under two minutes to play. However, the Cougars outscored IUSB, 8-2, over the final 1:40 to claim the big conference road victory.

Saint Xavier (19-5 overall/3-1 CCAC) heads to Bourbonnais, Ill. to take on CCAC foe Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) on Saturday, February 9. The game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
