CHICAGO - Behind 22 points, seven assists, and six rebounds by sophomore guard Julian Scott (Country Club Hills, Ill./Hillcrest), the No. 22 ranked Saint Xavier University men's basketball team evened up its Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) record at 1-1 with a 92-51 road win over Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) Saturday night in Chicago. The Cougars (17-5 overall/1-1 CCAC) had a huge first half racking up 54 points to take a 54-23 advantage into the locker room at halftime.
SXU also got big outings from junior forward Adam Gregoriou (Burbank, Ill./Brother Rice), who finished with 14 points and game-high 11 rebounds, and junior guard Nick Wirth (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere) with 14 points off the bench. Senior centers Jon Rudnick (Tinley Park, Ill./Ridgewood Baptist) and Kevin Lowe (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) posted 13 and 12 points, respectively, toward the winning effort. Rudnick also finished with a game-best four blocks. The Cougars shot 57 percent (38-for-67) from the field and committed just seven turnovers in the game. Saint Xavier (17-5 overall/1-1 CCAC) returns home on Wednesday, January 30, to take on CCAC rival University of St. Francis (Ill.). The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at the Shannon Center in Chicago.
