The Saint Xavier University men's track team ventured to Bloomington, Ill., on Saturday, February 2, to run in the 2008 Titan Invitational hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University. The team finished ninth of the 15 teams competing with 14 team points. Leading the way for the Cougars was sophomore John Neisler (Armington, Ill./Olympia), who finished third overall in the 800 meter run in the time of 1:58.49. Evan Lowry also ran 2:03.24 in the same event. The duo of senior Steve Bugarin (Chicago, Ill./Washington) and freshman Roy Witty (Mount Greenwood, Ill./Marist) finished fourth and fifth in the 5000-meter run with times of 15:43 and 15:46, respectively.
In addition, sophomore Manny Gonzalez (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) clocked a 4:48.00 in the mile run and freshman Evan Lowry (Horton, Mich./Hanover-Horton), sophomore Chris Spencer (Frankfort, Ill./Eastern Illinois/Lincoln-Way East), Neisler and Witty took fifth as a team in the distance medley with a time of 10:51.24.
