CHICAGO - Led by a game-high 14 points by senior guard Candis Jackson (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young), the No. 10 ranked Saint Xavier University women's basketball team defeated Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), 75-34, in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) road action Saturday in Chicago. The Cougars (15-3 overall, 2-0 CCAC) had little trouble pulling away early in the game and took a 42-13 lead into the locker room at halftime.
All 13 players that were on SXU's active roster for Saturday's game scored at least two points toward the winning effort. The Cougars posted 27 steals in the game and IIT finished with 39 turnovers. Sophomore guard Kathlyn McClain (Oak Forest, Ill./Converse College) also scored in double figures Saturday finishing with 11 points in addition to her four steals.
Saint Xavier (15-3 overall/2-0 CCAC) heads to Palos Heights, Ill., on Wednesday, January 23, to take on Trinity Christian College (Ill.) for a non-conference match-up. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start.
