CHICAGO - Following an impressive 2005 season that saw the Saint Xavier University football team finish 9-3 overall and earn its second-ever trip to the NAIA postseason, coach Mike Feminis and his Cougars are excited about the prospect of getting back out on the field. The first step in that process starts Wednesday (April 5) when SXU opens its annual spring practice sessions at SXU Stadium in Chicago.
The Cougars will hold two-hour practices on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, from 3:45 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. as well as Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Sessions will conclude on Saturday, April 29, with an intra-squad scrimmage game at 10 a.m. followed by a team cookout. All practice sessions are open to the public.
In addition to the practices and scrimmage, the Saint Xavier University football team will also be holding its fifth annual Cougar Football Booster Club Golf Outing on Saturday, May 6, at Meadows Golf Club in Blue Island, Ill. Saint Xavier had an impressive 2005 campaign finishing with a 9-3 record and as co-champions of the MSFA Midwest League. The Cougars qualified for the NAIA postseason for only the second time in the program's 13-year history. SXU was ranked No. 7 in the final NAIA football poll, but fell 31-28 to No. 4 University of Sioux Falls (S.D.) in first round action in Chicago on November 19.
