CHICAGO - Junior midfielder Natalie Liakopoulos (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn) recorded two goals and provided all the offense her team needed as No. 19 ranked Saint Xavier University earned a 2-1 home victory over Judson College (Ill.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) women's soccer action Saturday on "Senior Day" at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago. The win improves the Cougars' overall record to 12-3 and 5-2 in league play, while Judson falls to 11-2 overall and 4-2 in the CCAC.
Liakopoulos scored the game's first goal with just under 13 minutes remaining in the first half (32nd minute) off an assist from junior forward Lissa Coby (Lake Villa, Ill./Grant Community). SXU took a 1-0 lead into halftime and Liakopoulos was able to find the back of the net again in the game's 76th minute off assists from Coby and sophomore midfielder Sarah Scigalski (Alsip, Ill./Mother McAuley), respectively. Freshman goalkeeper Danielle Wagner (Worth, Ill./Stagg) was tough in goal for the Cougars finishing with five saves. Judson made things interesting in the final five minutes of regulation scoring its lone goal on an unassisted goal by freshman forward Christina Thornton.
