CHICAGO - Anthony Kropp, a senior quarterback at 2005 Class 8A state champion Lincoln-Way East High School in Frankfort, Ill., has signed a letter of intent to continue both his athletics and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar football program. The Frankfort native was named to the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 8A Coaches All-State Team following the 2005 season.
Kropp was coached by Rob Zvonar during his prep career at Lincoln-Way East High School. The Griffins finished the 2005 campaign with a perfect 13-0 record and Kropp scored the game-winning touchdown on a one-yard run in double overtime of the state championship to beat Maine South High School, 30-24. He completed 179 passes for 2,780 yards and 34 touchdowns (30 passing) during his senior season at Lincoln-Way East.
"A program like ours is a great fit for a player like Anthony," said Saint Xavier University football coach Mike Feminis. "He has got all the qualities that we want in a quarterback, but his best asset is his leadership skills. Anthony has all the intangibles and is a proven winner, plain and simple. We are very excited to get him."
