Men's Basketball - Tue, Dec. 4, 2007
Joliet, Ill. - A pair of 20-plus point performances in a three-game span landed Saint Xavier University senior guard Alok Aiyar (Hanover Park, Ill./UIC/Bartlett) the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week honor for the week ending December 2. Aiyar was on fire to start the week, connecting on all six of his three-point attempts and seven of his 10 shot attempts from the field, en route to a 22-point showing in a 91-70 victory over Judson University (Ill.) last Wednesday. In addition to his point total, Aiyar also added four rebounds, four assists and three steals in the Judson win.

On Saturday, Aiyar nearly matched his shooting prowess from three nights earlier in a 92-75 win over St. Ambrose University (Iowa), where he missed just one of his five three-point attempts and was 8-of-11 overall for a 24-point output. On the week, he shot no less than 59 percent from anywhere on the field, authoring marks of .593 on all field goal attempts (16-of-27), .647 from beyond the arc (11-of-17) and .778 at the free throw line (.778) in three games. That led to his 16.7 scoring average for the seven-day period. He also averaged 3.7 assists, 2.0 rebounds and 1.7 steals.

Saint Xavier (7-2 overall) hosts Indiana University-Northwest (Ind.) on Wednesday, December 5, for a NAIA non-conference match-up. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at the Shannon Center in Chicago.
