Davenport, Iowa - Behind a near triple-double performance by sophomore guard Julian Scott (Country Club Hills, Ill./Hillcrest), the Saint Xavier University men's basketball team shook off Friday night's loss to Ashford University (Iowa) and rolled to a 92-75 win over host St. Ambrose University (Iowa) Saturday at the Pepsi Challenge in Davenport, Iowa. Scott finished with 17 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and four steals to help the Cougars improve to 7-2 overall on the season. The Fighting Bees fall to 4-5 overall with the loss.

Senior guard Alok Aiyar (Hanover Park, Ill./UIC/Bartlett) led all scorers with 24 points shooting an impressive 8-for-11 (72 percent) from the field. Saint Xavier had two more players score in double figures in Saturday's big win with sophomore guard Marco Samimy (Chicago, Ill./CICS-Northtown Academy) posting 15 points off five three-pointers and senior forward Jon Rudnick (Tinley Park, Ill./Ridgewood Baptist) chipping in 10 points. The Cougars led 43-34 at the half and pulled away for good in the second half leading by as many as 22 points. SXU took advantage of 19 St. Ambrose turnovers in Saturday's win scoring 38 of its points off Fighting Bees miscues.

Saint Xavier (7-2 overall) continues its season on Wednesday, December 5, with a home game against Indiana University-Northwest (Ind.). The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at the Shannon Center in Chicago.
