CHICAGO - Justin Nudo and Shane Franken of Class 4A state champion Driscoll Catholic High School in Addison, Ill., have both signed letters of intent to continue both their athletic and academic careers at Saint Xavier University as members of the Cougar football program. Driscoll Catholic broke an Illinois High School Association (IHSA) record last fall winning its fifth straight state championship.

Both Nudo and Franken played as linebackers and running backs during their prep careers at Driscoll Catholic under Mike Burzawa. The Highlanders finished the 2005 campaign with a perfect 14-0 record and beat Newton High School, 42-7, to win the IHSA Class 4A state championship. Both players will add depth at the linebacker position for the Cougars next season.

"Justin and Shane are the first two players we have ever signed out of Driscoll Catholic and we couldn't be happier," said Saint Xavier University football coach Mike Feminis. "They are both excellent football players and obviously used to winning. I'm hoping we can add a couple of national championship rings to their collection of state championship rings. They will definitely help us and it may happen sooner rather than later."
