CHICAGO - For the second straight game senior point guard Alok Aiyar (Hanover Park, Ill./Illinois-Chicago/Bartlett) led the offensive attack for Saint Xavier University finishing with a game-high 22 points in a 91-70 win over Judson University (Ill.) in non-conference NAIA men's basketball action Wednesday night at the Shannon Center in Chicago. Aiyar also finished with four rebounds, four assists, and three steals to help the Cougars improve to 6-1 on the season. With the loss, Judson University falls to 3-3 overall.
SXU had four additional players score in double figures in Wednesday's home victory. Junior guard Amir Resic (Prijedor, Bosnia/East-West University/Mather) recorded 14 points on the night, while junior forward Adam Gregoriou (Burbank, Ill./Brother Rice) and sophomore guard Julian Scott (Country Club Hills, Ill./Hillcrest) each chipped in 11 points. Senior center Kevin Lowe (Tinley Park, Ill./Eastern Illinois/Andrew) also had a good game off the bench posting 13 points and seven rebounds. Senior forward Dan Bolger (Chicago, Ill./Saint Patrick) led the Cougars on the boards with eight rebounds. The Eagles were led in scoring by junior guard DeWayne Robinson, who finished with 21 points. SXU took care of the ball in the game committing just 13 turnovers compared to 20 by Judson. The Cougars led 45-35 at the half and outscored the Eagles, 46-35, in second half action.
Saint Xavier (6-1 overall) heads to Davenport, Iowa, this weekend to take part in the St. Ambrose University (Iowa) Men's Basketball Tournament. The Cougars open the event Friday with a 5:30 p.m. game against Ashford University (Iowa). SXU will then match up with the host team, St. Ambrose, at 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 1.
