CHICAGO - Ashley August, a senior setter from Lyons Township High School in LaGrange, Ill., and Matti Nesbitt, a senior middle blocker/outside hitter from Bismarck-Henning High School in Bismarck, Ill., have both signed letters of intent to continue their athletic and academic careers at Saint Xavier University as members of the Cougar volleyball program. August was coached by Joann Pyritz during her prep career with the Lions of Lyons Township, while Nesbitt played under Susan Kentner for the Blue Devils of Bismarck-Henning High School.

August is the daughter of Don and Gert August of LaGrange Park, Ill. She plans to pursue a degree in mathematics next year at Saint Xavier University. Nesbitt is the daughter of Matt and Christine Nesbitt of Bismarck. She plans to study pre-dentistry as a freshman next fall at SXU.

"Ashley comes from a great high school and club volleyball program," said Saint Xavier University head volleyball coach Bob Heersema. "Her family also has a volleyball history with her father having coached at a Division I school and her mother having played Division I volleyball.

"Matti is a strong, versatile athlete with a lot of potential," continued Heersema. "She can play either the middle blocker or outside hitter positions."
