Men's Basketball - Wed, Nov. 14, 2007
Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University senior forward Dan Bolger (Chicago, Ill./Saint Patrick) has been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Basketball Division I Player of the Week after nearly averaging a double-double per game for the week ending November 11. Bolger was instrumental in helping the Cougars open their 2007-08 season in perfect fashion with a 3-0 start.
Bolger averaged 16.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game in a pair of wins over Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) and Cornerstone University (Mich.) in a week in which Saint Xavier went 3-0 as a team. In SXU's 85-65 victory over Calumet last Wednesday, Bolger did post a double-double, collecting 15 points and 10 rebounds, while also recording five steals. He followed that up with an 18-point, nine-rebound effort on Friday in an 88-85 win over Cornerstone at the Trinity Christian College (Ill.) Mitchell Memorial Classic in Palos Heights, Ill. Bolger, who shot 57 percent from the field (.570) in the two games, did not play on Saturday in SXU's 114-69 win over Ohio State University Marion, where the Cougars improved to 3-0 on the campaign.
Saint Xavier (4-0 overall) hosts College of the Ozarks (Mo.) on Friday, November 16, for a big NAIA non-conference match-up of two unbeaten teams. The game will start at 7 p.m. Friday at the Shannon Center in Chicago.
