Palos Heights, Ill. - Senior center Jon Rudnick (Tinley Park, Ill./Ridgewood Baptist Academy) recorded career-highs of 36 points and 14 rebounds as Saint Xavier University (Ill.) cruised to a 114-69 victory over Ohio State University-Marion in men's basketball action Saturday afternoon to wrap up the Trinity Christian College Mitchell Classic in Palos Heights, Ill. With the victory, the Cougars improve to 3-0 on the season.

In addition to Rudnick, a host of other SXU players also had big outings and career-best performances in Saturday's game. Sophomore guard Marco Samimy (Chicago, Ill./CICS-Northtown Academy) posted 24 points and six steals, both career-highs, in the winning effort. Sophomore point guard Jamel Morton (Maywood, Ill./Walther Lutheran) scored a career-best 19 points for the Cougars, while freshman guard Dan Palombizio (Michigan City, Ind./New Buffalo) got his collegiate career off to a good start also finishing with 19 points and 14 rebounds. SXU shot an impressive 62 percent (51-for-82) from the field and out-rebounded OSU-Marion, 46-21, in the game. Leading 53-37 at the half, the Cougars really poured it on in the second half with a season-high 61 points.

Saint Xavier (3-0 overall) hosts its home season-opener on Tuesday, November 13, with a game against Purdue University-North Central (Ind.). The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. at the Shannon Center in Chicago.
