Palos Heights, Ill. - Led by senior forward Dan Bolger (Chicago, Ill./Saint Patrick) and 55 percent (29-for-53) shooting from the field, the Saint Xavier University men's basketball team held on to claim an 88-85 victory over Cornerstone University (Mich.) Friday at the Trinity Christian College Mitchell Classic in Palos Heights, Ill. Bolger finished with team-highs of 18 points and nine rebounds to help lead the Cougars to a 2-0 start on the new season.

Senior guard Scott Campbell (Detroit, Mich./Waubonsee CC) and sophomore guard Julian Scott (Country Club Hills, Ill./Hillcrest) each scored 14 points for SXU in Friday's win, while senior center Kevin Lowe (Tinley Park, Ill./Eastern Illinois) chipped in 13 points. Senior point guard Alok Aiyar (Hanover Park, Ill./University of Illinois-Chicago) also finished in double figures in scoring with 11 points in addition to his team-best three steals. The Cougars overcame 25 turnovers in the game, but recorded 14 steals to help force 21 Cornerstone turnovers.

Saint Xavier (2-0 overall) wraps up play at the Mitchell Classic on Saturday, November 10, with a game against Ohio State University-Marion (Ohio). The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
