Ormond Beach, Fla. - A two-run, ninth inning in game one of the Saint Xavier University baseball team's doubleheader with Dickinson State University (N.D.) gave SXU a dramatic 6-5 victory Monday in Ormond Beach, Fla. Unfortunately for the Cougars (4-2 overall), Dickinson State pulled away in game two to capture a 5-2 win and handed SXU its second loss of the young season.

A double by senior third baseman Nick Tantillo (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) opened the bottom of the seventh inning for Saint Xavier and helped lead to the two-run rally. A RBI double by junior pinch hitter Joe Miller (Chicago, Ill./Gordon Tech) scored the tying run and then, with one out and the bases loaded, freshman shortstop John O'Brien (Lake Zurich, Ill./Lake Zurich) drew a walk to send the winning run across home plate. Tantillo went 4-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and a RBI, while sophomore pitcher Bryant Myjak (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) recorded the win on the mound throwing all seven innings and allowing five hits, five runs (four earned), and four walks with two strikeouts.

Despite a 3-for-3 showing at the plate for freshman first baseman Mark Siefert (Crest Hill, Ill./Joliet Catholic), SXU could not muster enough offense to keep pace with Dickinson State in the second game. Junior Joe Zotto (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) took the loss for the Cougars throwing all six innings and giving up six hits, five runs (all earned), and no walks with two strikeouts.

Saint Xavier (4-2 overall) will take a short break from its Ormond Beach schedule and head to St. Augustine, Fla., to take on Flagler College (Fla.). SXU will play a nine-inning game with Flagler Tuesday at 7 p.m. eastern time at Flagler Stadium.
