Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University freshman guard Julian Scott (Country Club Hills, Ill./Hillcrest) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Freshman of the Year and earned first team recognition to highlight five SXU men's basketball players on the 2007 all-conference squad. In addition to Scott, sophomore forward Adam Gregoriou (Burbank, Ill./Brother Rice) also garnered All-CCAC first team honors, while junior forward Dan Bolger (Chicago, Ill./Saint Patrick), senior guard Chris McCormick (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East), and senior guard Ken McCormick (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) all earned honorable mention recognition.

Scott has averaged 12.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game this season and has been a regular starter for the Cougars all season. He has shot 52 percent (129-for-246) from the field this year and has a 79 percent clip (88-for-111) from the free-throw line. Gregoriou is averaging 9.2 points and 4.6 rebounds a game this season and is shooting 50 percent (92-for-185) from the field on the year.

Playing in all 28 games for SXU this season, Bolger has averaged 8.1 points and a team-leading 6.7 rebounds per game. Ken McCormick has contributed 8.0 points and 2.0 assists per game average, while twin brother Chris McCormick has chipped in 7.1 points per game and 2.8 rebounds. This is the first All-CCAC recognition for all five players in their collegiate careers. It is also the second year in a row that Coach Tom O'Malley's team has had the CCAC Freshman of the Year.

Saint Xavier (18-10 overall/5-5 CCAC) earned the No. 3 seed in this week's CCAC Tournament and will host No. 6 seed Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in first round action. The first round game is scheduled for tonight (Tuesday) at 7 p.m. at the Shannon Center in Chicago.
