South Bend, Ind. - Despite 16 points and five rebounds from freshman guard Julian Scott (Country Club Hills, Ill./Hillcrest), the Saint Xavier University men's basketball team could not wrap up its regular season with a win falling 73-58 to Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Indiana University-South Bend (IUSB) Saturday in South Bend, Ind. The Cougars (18-10 overall/5-5 CCAC) committed 19 turnovers in the ballgame and scored just 27 points in the second half.
Scott was the only SXU player to score in double figures in Saturday's loss. Junior forward Dan Bolger (Chicago, Ill./Saint Patrick) finished with eight points and seven rebounds, while sophomore forward Adam Gregoriou (Burbank, Ill./Brother Rice) chipped in seven points and game-high eight boards. The Cougars shot 43 percent (22-for-51) from the field in the game and 8-for-16 (50 percent) from the charity stripe.
Saint Xavier (18-10 overall/5-5 CCAC) earns the No. 3 seed in next week's CCAC Tournament and will host No. 6 seed Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in first round action. The first round game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start on Tuesday, February 27, at the Shannon Center in Chicago.
