CHICAGO - Freshman Lauren Dentzman (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) ran a qualifying time of 10:41.08 in the 3,000-meter run last Friday at the Women's Chicagoland Championships hosted by Lewis University in Romeoville, Ill. The qualifying standard for the 2007 NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships is 10:45.25 in the 3,000-meter run. The 26th annual national meet will be held from March 8-10 at the Memorial Center in Johnson City, Tenn. Dentzman becomes the first female student-athlete in SXU history to qualify for the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships.
"I'm extremely excited for Lauren and her outstanding accomplishment," said Saint Xavier University women's cross country/track coach Lisa Ebel. "To be the first women in the history of Saint Xavier to qualify for the national track meet is a unique distinction. She has worked hard all season long to accomplish this goal."
The preliminaries for the 3,000-meter run at the 2007 NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships will take place on Friday, March 9, with the finals set for Saturday, March 10. Saint Xavier will wrap up its indoor season this Friday (Feb. 23) at the Last Chance Meet hosted by University of Chicago
