Olathe, Kan. - Seniors Brendan Christy (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) and Luke Gregerson (Lyons, Ill./Morton) as well as freshman Dan Miller (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) were all named to the 2006 NAIA All-American Honorable Mention Baseball Team in their respective positions when the national office recently announced the honors. All three recipients were also first team members on the 2006 NAIA Region VII Baseball Team, which was released in mid-May.

Starting at shortstop in 53 of SXU's 60 games, Christy batted .348 (73-for-210) and led the team in hits (73), runs scored (52), doubles (19), triples (5), and home runs (8). Defensively, he was tough as well committing just nine errors on the season while leading Saint Xavier with 136 assists.

As the Cougars' starting right fielder in 58 games, Gregerson had a huge season earning CCAC and Region VII Player of the Year honors. He hit .330 (72-for-218) and recorded a team-leading 49 runs-batted-in (RBI) and 12 stolen bases. Gregerson also posted 15 doubles, five home runs, and 46 runs scored this season.

Miller had a stellar debut in his first collegiate season earning both CCAC Pitcher and Freshman of the Year honors in addition to a spot on the 2006 NAIA Region VII Baseball Team. Miller compiled an 8-2 win-loss record on the mound this spring with a 2.73 earned-run average. He also threw two complete games over 11 starts and had the lowest walk total (10) of any of the starting pitchers in the Saint Xavier rotation.

Saint Xavier finished the 2006 season with a 33-27 overall record and advanced to the NAIA World Series for the first time since 1988. The Cougars captured the regular season crown in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) and also won the 2006 NAIA Region VII Tournament and the 2006 Heartland Super Regional series.
