CHICAGO - Led by 22 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists from freshman guard Julian Scott (Country Club Hills, Ill./Hillcrest), Saint Xavier University used a big second half to pick up a 74-51 win over rival University of St. Francis (Ill.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) men's basketball action Saturday at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The Cougars (15-7 overall/2-2 CCAC) outscored the Fighting Saints, 40-21, in the second half to earn the victory. USF falls to 7-12 overall and 1-4 in the conference standings with the road loss.

Junior center Kevin Lowe (Tinley Park, Ill./Eastern Illinois University) also had a stellar outing for SXU in Saturday's win posting a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds. Sophomore forward Adam Gregoriou (Burbank, Ill./Brother Rice) turned in 11 points and eight boards for the Cougars, while sophomore point guard Darin Riddle (Indianapolis, Ind./Mount Vernon) chipped in 10 points and three assists.

Saint Xavier shot 52 percent (27-for-52) from the field in the game, which helped the team overcome 18 turnovers. USF shot just 32 percent (19-for-59) from the field Saturday and just 17 percent (2-for-12) from beyond the three-point arc. Senior guard Mike Smith and junior guard Chris Hobson, who each finished with 12 points, led the Fighting Saints. SXU won the battle of the boards as well out-rebounding USF, 41-33.

Saint Xavier (15-7 overall/2-2 CCAC) continues its conference schedule at home on Wednesday, January 31, with a game against Indiana University-South Bend (IUSB). The start time for the game is 7 p.m. at the Shannon Center in Chicago.
