Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University junior center Kevin Lowe (Tinley Park, Ill./Eastern Illinois University) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week when the conference office released the honor Tuesday. Lowe helped lead the Cougars to a 1-1 record in its two games last week in West Palm Beach, Fla. SXU defeated Medicine Hat College (Alberta), 97-50, in its first game last Thursday before dropping a heartbreaker to No. 22 ranked Northwood University (Fla.), 78-75, on a successful last-second three-point attempt.
Lowe scored a career-high 22 points in Thursday's big win over Medicine Hat College. He shot an impressive 10-for-15 (67 percent) from the field in the game and also pulled down seven rebounds. In Saturday's game against Northwood, Lowe also scored in double figures with 11 points in addition to recording four rebounds. On the week, Lowe shot 14-for-21 from the field (67 percent) and averaged 16.5 points and 5.5 rebounds a game. Saint Xavier (13-5 overall) heads to Bourbonnais, Ill., on Tuesday, January 9, to open its CCAC schedule against Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.). Game time is slated for 7:30 p.m.
