Women's Soccer - Wed, Oct. 26, 2005
CHICAGO - Despite a second-half goal by junior defender Kate Bingham (Lincoln, Neb./Pius X Catholic), the No. 14 ranked and No. 1 seeded Saint Xavier University women's soccer team fell 5-1 to No. 4 seed Trinity Christian College (Ill.) Wednesday in the semifinals of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament at SXU Stadium in Chicago. With the loss, the Cougars drop to 14-4-1 overall and await a bid to take part in the NAIA Region VII Tournament, which begins on Tuesday, November 1. The Trolls improve to 15-3-1 overall and advance to the CCAC Championship on Saturday, October 29.

Trinity Christian senior forward Jessica Eenigenburg started the game's scoring when she found the back of the net on a header in the 14th minute of play off an assist from freshman midfielder Nicole Billin. The Trolls tacked on a second goal with just over six minutes to play in the first half when freshman forward Natalie Buikema scored on an unassisted play to build a 2-0 halftime advantage.

Saint Xavier cut the lead to one, 2-1, with Bingham's goal in the game's 48th minute off a pass from senior midfielder Jen Belmonte (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South). However, with just over 30 minutes to play in regulation, TCC freshman midfielder Sarah Fraasse recorded a goal and Eenigenburg picked up her second score of the game just two minutes later to put Trinity Christian ahead, 4-1. With 9:42 left to play, Eenigenburg got the hat trick scoring her third and final goal of the game to seal the 5-1 victory. SXU senior goalkeeper Melissa Painter (Elk Grove, Calif./William Penn University) finished with 12 saves in the game.

No. 14 Saint Xavier (14-4-1 overall/9-1 CCAC) will await a bid to take part in the 2005 NAIA Region VII Women's Soccer Tournament next week in Iowa. Seedings and sites have yet to be announced.
