CHICAGO - Behind 16 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists from senior guard Candis Jackson (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young), the No. 17 ranked Saint Xavier University women's basketball team earned its third straight victory beating visiting No. 30 ranked McKendree College (Ill.), 76-69, Saturday at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The Cougars (3-0 overall) led by four at the break, 32-28, and shot 49 percent from the field (18-for-37) in the second half to secure the win.

Also scoring in double figures for SXU was senior guard Angie Brown (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore) with 12 points in addition to her five rebounds and four assists. Junior forward Jackie Heine (Hampshire, Ill./Hannibal-LaGrange College) just missed a double-double performance with eight points and a team-leading nine rebounds. McKendree tied the game, 32-32, a minute into the second half before Saint Xavier poured on a 26-9 scoring run over the seven minutes to pull away. The Cougars led by as many as 21 points in the game. SXU committed just 10 turnovers in the ballgame compared to 20 miscues by the Bearcats.

Saint Xavier (3-0 overall) stays at home to face Trinity Christian College (Ill.) in non-conference action on Tuesday, November 21. The game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. at the Shannon Center in Chicago.
