Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University junior middle blocker Tara Breshock (Lansing, Ill./TF-South) and junior setter Traci Looby (Orland Hills, Ill./Andrew) were both named to the 2006 All-Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Volleyball First Team in their respective positions when the honors were released by the conference office Monday. In addition, senior outside hitter Jessica Buchmeier (Steger, Ill./Bloom Trail) earned a spot on the 2006 All-CCAC Honorable Mention volleyball team for her efforts this season.
Breshock leads the SXU offensive attack with 404 kills and has averaged 9.62 kills per match over 42 matches this season. She boasts an impressive team-best attack percentage of .382, is second on the team in total blocks (82), and has committed just 84 errors over 837 total attacks this fall. Looby has been the Cougars' primary setter this season and leads the team with 1,746 set assists. In addition to her setting duties, she is also second on the team in digs (378). Buchmeier, who missed 18 matches due to injury this fall, still ranks among the team leaders in kills (251), digs (277), and total blocks (30).
Saint Xavier (23-19 overall/7-2 CCAC) has earned the No. 6 and final seed in this week's 2006 NAIA Region VII Volleyball Tournament. The Cougars continue their season in the region quarterfinals in Davenport, Iowa, facing No. 3 seed St. Ambrose University (Iowa) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15.
