CHICAGO - In its second exhibition in as many days, the No. 17 ranked Saint Xavier University women's basketball team saw similar results falling, 88-68, to NCAA Division I University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC) Tuesday night at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago. The Cougars got another impressive outing from junior forward Jackie Heine (Hampshire, Ill./Hannibal-LaGrange), who finished with game-highs of 19 points and 10 rebounds, but SXU had trouble keeping pace with the Flames in the second half. Saint Xavier fell to NCAA Division I Northern Illinois University, 88-67, at the NIU Convocation Center in DeKalb, Ill., on Monday night.
Senior guard Angie Brown (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore) also scored in double figures for Saint Xavier with 14 points behind 4-for-7 shooting from beyond the three-point arc. The Cougars outrebounded the Flames, 50-44, in the game with junior centers Emina Sehalic (Sarajevo, Bosnia/Northern Illinois University) and Jennifer Stinich (Westchester, Ill./Nazareth Academy) combining for 13 boards. UIC was led in scoring by senior forward Jacquay Holmes, who finished with 12 points. The Flames led, 39-33, at the half.
Saint Xavier opens its regular season at home against No. 12 ranked Point Loma Nazarene University (Calif.) on Saturday, November 11. The season opening game is set to start at 1 p.m. at the Shannon Center in Chicago.
