Women's Basketball - Tue, Nov. 7, 2006
DeKalb, Ill. - Despite a team-high 15 points by junior forward Jackie Heine (Hampshire, Ill./Hannibal-LaGrange), the Saint Xavier University women's basketball team could not keep pace with NCAA Division I Northern Illinois University (Ill.) falling, 88-67, Monday night in exhibition play at the NIU Convocation Center in DeKalb, Ill. The Cougars trailed by six points, 43-37, at the half, but hot shooting and rebounding by the Huskies after the break allowed them to pull away.

In addition to Heine, senior guard Dani Engleman (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest) scored in double figures as well for SXU with 11 points. Freshman forward Erin Hannemann (Homer Glen, Ill./Providence Catholic) had a solid debut for the Cougars scoring eight points and recording a team-high three steals. Senior guard Stephanie Raymond led NIU with a game-high 25 points, while junior forward Whitney Lowe logged a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. The SXU defense helped force 20 Huskies turnovers in the game and held them to just 30 percent (12-for-40) shooting percentage in the first half.

Saint Xavier continues exhibition play on Tuesday, November 7, matching up against University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC) at the UIC Pavilion. The exhibition is set to start at 6 p.m.
