Despite their valiant efforts, Saint Xavier University's cross country team was not able to gain a team title for the two divisions at the National Catholic Cross Country Invitational on September 19th. Four members of the team ran hard against 34 other schools in two divisions on the 3000K course at the Burke Memorial Golf Course.
Senior Jennifer Selvage, freshman Amy Flavin, and juniors Graciela Patino and Susan Bansley faced 252 other runners for Division I. Patino (Aurora, IL/West Aurora) led the way with 20:55, setting her in 120th place. Bansley (Chicago, IL Mother McAuley) followed with 21:25, earning 155th place. Selvage (Midlothian, IL/Oak Forest) was next with 22:11 and 206th place. Flavin earned 26:40 and 250th place.
After battling 170 other runners in Division 2, Patino gained 64th place, Bansley landed in 90th place, Selvage held 133rd place, and Flavin came in 169th.
