CHICAGO - Sophomore Mallory Winkler (Burbank, Ill./Queen of Peace) had seven kills, nine digs, and five service aces to lead Saint Xavier University to a three-game match win (30-10, 30-14, 30-11) over Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) women's volleyball action Friday night at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The match marks the end of the regular season for the Cougars, who take a 22-18 overall record and 7-2 league mark (third in the standings) into next week's CCAC Tournament.
Junior outside hitter Jessica Synowiecki (Oak Lawn, Ill./Moraine Valley CC) was tough for SXU in Friday's win finishing with team-highs of eight kills and 10 digs, while junior middle blocker Eileen Carls (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) posted four total blocks. Junior setter Traci Looby (Orland Hills, Ill./Andrew) provided the offensive set-up with 33 assists.
Saint Xavier (22-18 overall/7-2 CCAC) will own the No. 3 seed and host a quarterfinals match in next week's CCAC Volleyball Tournament, which begins on Tuesday, November 7. The match will start at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Shannon Center in Chicago against No. 6 seed Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.).
