The Saint Xavier University women's cross country team finished 11th out of 15 teams, but showed signs of improvement as Graciella Patino (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) and Susan Bansley (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) turned in better 6K times than last season at the North Central College Invitational in Naperville, Ill.

Patino paced the Cougars across the finish line at No. 62 (out of 182 runners) with a time of 26:16 over the 6,000-meter course, one minute faster than her time last year. Bansley finished the race at No 72 with a time of 26:34, three minutes ahead of her 2002 pace.

Other finishers for the Cougars included: Laura Dignan (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) with a time of 27:11, Jen Selvage (Midlothian, Ill./Oak Forest) with a time of 28:01, Amy Kauth (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) with a time of 28:04, Bridgette Fanucce (Evergreen Park, Ill./Evergreen Park) with a time of 30:44 and Amy Flavin (Lawton, Mich./Lawton) with a time of 30:48.

SXU finished the meet with an average time of 27:15. Wheaton College won the meet with an average team time of 24:00.
