Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University senior goalkeeper Melissa Painter (Elk Grove, Calif./William Penn University) was named both the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) and NAIA Region VII Women's Soccer Player of the Week Tuesday when the honors were released by the league office in Joliet, Ill. Painter helped the Cougars extend their win streak to seven games with two big conference home wins last week over No. 8 Robert Morris College (Ill.) and Trinity Christian College (Ill.).
In SXU's 1-0 shutout win over Robert Morris (Ill.) last Tuesday, Painter recorded seven saves en route to her seventh shutout performance of the season. She followed this stellar performance with 10 saves in Saint Xavier's 2-1 victory over Trinity Christian Friday. The Cougars currently sit in a first place tie for the CCAC regular season crown with a 6-1 league mark.
SXU (11-2-1 overall/6-1 CCAC) hosts CCAC foe Calumet College (Ind.) on Wednesday, October 12, at SXU Stadium. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
